Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Tickets – New Album ‘Mojo’ Set for Release in June
It's extremely difficult to dispute that Tom Petty is a rock 'n' roll icon. His ballads have transcended generations, so that even the young kids are downloading "Free Fallin,'" "Refugee" and "I Won't Back Down" to their iPods. The songwriter isn't letting any of his followers down, be they young or old, as he is getting ready to release another studio effort this June. Mojo will see Petty and the Heartbreakers delivering more timeless classics as its release will give the band members an excuse to get out on the road. Mojo will mark the first studio release since the band's 2002 album The Last DJ.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will tour around the U.S. in support of the record, stopping in cities like Milwaukee, Chicago, Cleveland, New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Detroit, among others; word is they might even be heading for Europe. Special guests on the upcoming tour trek include an assortment of notable musicians. According to Live Daily, Joe Cocker, the Drive-By Truckers, My Morning Jacket and Crosby, Stills and Nash will split up the opening slots on the tour. At the performances, fans will likely get a dose of some of the more well-known Petty ballads as well as examples of some of their latest work. "First Flash of Freedom" and "Good Enough" are both tunes off of Mojo and are likely to be added to the list of Tom Petty classics.
Meanwhile, Tom Petty has been keeping himself busy. Just a few months ago the band released The Live Anthology, which includes a variety of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers hits as well as some cover tunes like Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well" and James Brown's "Good, Good Lovin."
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers got their start in the industry during the 1970s. The disco era was in full force, but Petty went into a different direction recalling the sounds of Neil Young and Bob Dylan. Their music could best be described as heartland rock 'n' roll - a rough roots sound that has gradually evolved and expanded over the years. Their self-titled debut album took a little while to catch attention in the U.S., but once it did it was hard to keep Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers out of the Top 20. Perhaps one of their most well-known albums came after the release of Petty's own solo effort, Full Moon Fever. The band issued Into the Great Wide Open in 1991 and scored with successful singles "Learning to Fly," "Into the Great Wide Open" and "Two Gunslingers."
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have racked up a slew of hits over the past few decades and there is "no backing down" now. They still remain one of the most popular rock groups currently on the scene. Make sure to catch them when they swing into your city on their supporting tour of the upcoming album Mojo.
